2009-10-11 Bell Knob & Eagle Mountain : A couple of hikes in north GA with the Atlanta Outdoor Club. We started with a warmup hike up Bell Knob (about 2 miles/1000' ascent total) and then moved on to Eagle Mtn, one of the highest peaks in GA at 4240'. It was a 4.2 mile hike to the summit...about 2000' of ascent along the way...steady climb with a few steeper sections, but it was mostly an old logging road so the grade was reasonable. Just beautiful mid Oct weather and a fun group made it a very memorable day.

2009-09-13 Bell Knob and Wagon Train Trail : Atlanta Outdoor Club hike to Bell Knob in Hiawassee and up the Wagon Train Trail to Brasstown Bald, the highest mtn in GA. Total distance between both hikes was 17.1 miles with just over 4000 feet of total ascent. The WTT ended up being a much nicer trail than I expected, and plan to go back there in a few months to enjoy the winter views. We had a strong group and got to the top in just under 3 hrs and then down in just about 2.5....good tough hike and nice weather overall.

2009-08-15 Mount Yonah : Atlanta Outdoor Club hike to the top of Mount Yonah in Cleveland, GA. We started up the mtn at about 6pm....enjoyed the sunset, and then hiked down in the dark (well with our headlamps).

2009-05-09 Chattooga Backpacking : Backpacking trip with the Atlanta Outdoor Club on the Foothills and Chattooga River trails in SC. We hiked about 9.6 miles and some of us did another 6 miles of dayhikes. We started at the Nicholson Ford Rd trailhead and ended at Burrells Ford...checking out four waterfalls along the way...Pigpen, Licklog, Big Bend, and Spoonauger Falls.
